The Analysis stage is self-explanatory - this is the stage in which I should analyze the project and its scope, assess its budget and identify resources.
My first analysis - I need to define the project in comprehensible sentences to know what I am really getting myself into. Below is somewhat the definition, as written by my loyal protege:
The Eilham Awards Portal is a Malaysian digital media award and recognition portal that is intended to provide the Malaysian community a channel to promote and display its creative efforts in the form of digital media such as (but not restricted to) website design, digital media cd presentations and print designs. As a project under Yayasan Bina Ihsan Malaysia (YBIM), the portal will be a free community service to the participating public, and hopes to contribute to the growth of new talents and human resources in the field of ICT and digital media.
While I have defined what I would want to achieve, such as the above, I would also need to clarify how this project would benefit those around me:
Malaysia is in need of more creative content talents - the Malaysian government is well aware of this and is actively promoting new content with projects such as Saladin, ChannelX, and many more. The government's promotions create platforms for new talents to be discovered, and platforms are crucial to this endeavour. The Eilham Awards Portal aims to create another platform for Malaysians to strut their brain power and test their creative prowess, with an ultimate and optimistic vision that Malaysia will one day stand among the world's best in creative content production.
In addition, the portal provides Malaysians a free but far-reaching channel to promote their creative portfolios. Designers who are awarded for their design would gain more credibility, and this would give them the competitive edge to survive in the creative arts industry. As more and more talents emerge through this project, Malaysia would one day enjoy a growth in the creative content production industry, and this would inevitably boost the country’s economy.
If you feel you could add to the idea, please feel free to post a comment.
I will continue with the rest of the phases, with a further analysis of the project.
